Toxicity Testing in Vitro

Toxicity tests find their wide application, for example, in evaluation of chemically mediated cytotoxicity of compounds, evaluation of efficiency of the tested compound, comparison of efficiency/toxicity of two and more compounds, observation of relationships between the structure and effect in a group of tested compounds or evaluation of the synergistic/antagonistic effect in two and more compounds.

Two types of tests are offered as standard as part of molecular services: XTT test and neutral red test, done with eukaryote cell lines derived from various types of human and animal tissues.

IC₅₀ value is the result of the cytotoxicity test, which corresponds to the concentration of the tested compound at which 50% cells survive. The outputs include description of the methodology, IC₅₀ value and graphic processing of the curve that shows the dependence of viability of the cells on the tested compound concentration (dose-response curve) in publication quality. Raw data can be provided upon request, as well.

Requirements for the materials

Tested compounds should be soluble in water. Upon prior consultation, compounds soluble in DMSO or ethanol can be tested.
