GENERI BIOTECH and Nanotechnologies

GENERI BIOTECH s.r.o. seeks to develop a new way to detect nucleic acids using nanotechnologies. In co-operation with the Institute of Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and other academic institutions, GENERI BIOTECH performs basic research of electrical properties of modified oligonucleotides. Applied research is based on the results, leading to quite new approaches in detection of specific sequences of nucleic acids or their damage. The project has been partly supported by the programme "Nanotechnologies for the Society" of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

GENERI BIOTECH has been engaged in synthesis, analysis and use of oligonucleotides, short synthetic segments of nucleic acids, for more than 14 years. Detection of specific sequences of nucleic acids is undertaken by GENERI BIOTECH especially as part of pathogene detection and identification research. The company develops detection kits for high risk agents misused as mass destruction weapons or bioterrorism.
