Oligo Synthesis Scale

Oligos are synthesized in quantity scales 20 nmol, 40 nmol, 200 nmol, 1 µmol and 10 µmol. The assigned scale means that the actual quantity of the resulting product will be around this value.

Product quantity results depend on:

• Synthesis yield, which declines with the length of the resulting product
• Purification type that is associated with certain losses.

Synthesis scale of 40 nmol is sufficient for most techniques in molecular biology (oligos cover more than 3000 common PCR reactions). On the contrary, the scale 10 µmol is suitable when using the oligos as a gene therapeutic product or for structural experiments.
