Oligo - Specific Product Information

Form of delivery

Oligos are delivered in a dry condition in 2 mL tubes. Oligonucleotides of some specific sequences (rich in G-C) cannot be successfully dissolved again upon their drying as they form insoluble or hardly soluble complexes. Oligonucleotides of such suspected sequences are therefore delivered non-dried with a notice of such a phenomenon occuring, if they were to be dried.

The associated ion

Ammonium or triethylammonium ion is the associated ion as standard. However, these ions are not suitable for some applications (NMR spectroscopy). Upon request, the associated ion can be changed to Na+ (to be mentioned in the note area of the purchase order form).

Documentation

Card with the oligo parameters and dilution instructions is supplied together with the oligonucleotides. Oligo quantity is determined by means of UV spectrophotometry and is expressed in nanomoles, optical units and micrograms.

Recommended oligo storage

If the delivery contains at least 1 oligo supplied in the non-dried form, a notice is added on the envelope stating that upon delivery, the product should be stored in the refrigerator. We recommend to divide the oligos upon dilution in aliquot parts and to store them at -20° C at most. Oligonucleotides with fluorescent marking are unstable upon prolonged exposition to the light, therefore they must be kept in the dark upon delivery. Short-time work in lighted environment does not harm the oligonucleotides.

Oligo stability

Oligo in a freeze-dried form is stable at least for 2 years from the date of synthesis - if it is kept at -18 Centigrade. The expiry date is 1 year from the time of resuspension, to a maximum of 2 years from the date of synthesis.
