In the perspective of potential returnability of invested funds, the first time frame is the shortest and spans approximately from several months to two years. In particular, it covers applied research and focuses on the elaboration of selected - mostly methodical - outputs of the basic research which obviously lead to commercial applications (in the form of a product or service). Our goal is a fast transformation of results into those commercial applications. The fund returnability risk rate is the lowest here.
The second time frame is medium-term and spans from one year to fi ve years. It covers the basic research with the obvious applicable character and is mostly focused on the solution of issues related to the methodical base of GENERI BIOTECH research laboratories. The methodical base represents molecular-genetic methods including particularly molecular cloning, cell culture work, gene expression quantifi cation (real-time PCR and DNA arrays), detection of pathogenic agents, and production of recombinant proteins. Our goal is to obtain results based on which we shall decide about the possibility of their commercial or otherwise profi table use. The fund returnability risk rate depends on the elaborated issues.
The third time frame is long-term and spans approximately fi ve years and more. It mostly covers the basic research in the field of oligonucleotide applications. Oligonucleotide applications are used in medical treatment (therapeutic oligonucleotides) or in diagnostics (innovative methods in the nucleic acid analysis). Concerning this field, the research in GENERI BIOTECH is focused on therapeutic oligonucleotides (antisense, TFO, RNAi) in connection with photo-dynamically active molecules and research in the field of electric properties of nucleic acids. It is the use of combination of oligonucleotides and photo-dynamically active molecules what differentiates our research in this field from the research and development of therapeutic oligonucleotides in other companies.
