16S/ITS Sequencing

One of possible ways of bacterial identification consists in sequencing of species-specific segments of genomic ribosomal DNA. These are 16S segments approximately 900 bases long and an "internal transcribed spacer" (ITS) approximately 600 bases long. The service includes amplification of these segments by the "proofreading" polymerase, isolation from the agarose gel and sequencing by specific primers.

Terms of delivery

The results are sent via e-mail or by post on a CD within 10 working days upon receiving your order.

The customer obtains the sequences in the form of scf files with a transparent summary of the results arranged in a table (the so called sequencing key). Scf files can be viewed and modified using applications available for free download on the Internet, for example:

Requirements for the materials

Concentration of the bacterial DNA should be 100 ng/µl at the minimum and its minimum purity (A260/280) should be 1.8.
