The technology of dual-labeled hydrolysis probes (also called TaqMan® probes) exploits the 5 ́-3 ́ exonuclease activity of Taq DNA polymerase to cleave dual-labeled hydrolysis probes. Hydrolysis probes are labeled at the 5´ end with a fluorescent dye (reporter) and at the 3´ end with a quencher.

The system of single-labeled probes (also called FRET probes - Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer) consists of a pair of probes, the former is labeled with donor fluorophore (3´FAM) at the 3 ́ end, the latter is labeled with acceptor fluorophore (5´CFR 610 or 635) at the 5 ́ end. The probes are designed to hybridize PCR targets adjacent to each other. The probes are HPLC purified (no additional fee).

GEMINI™ probes are a type of real-time PCR probe developed in GENERI BIOTECH. The technology of GEMINI is based on placing internal quenchers inside the probe sequence that results in a stronger quenching and a lower background signal. The probes are HPLC purified (no additional fee).
