At the end of August 2025, we returned to organizing our Science Clubs. These events were held regularly in the past decade, and after last year’s relocation and settling into our new premises, we realized that we were missing such a platform. A platform for education and discussion with elements of brainstorming—an opportunity to share scientific insights and ideas with colleagues in an open, collaborative way.
The first Science Club, held on the last Tuesday of August, focused on the topic of digital PCR. This is a timely topic for us in several respects, and the session mainly involved a detailed comparison of current market offerings. Beyond GLP testing, digital PCR is also of interest to GB in terms of potential IVD kit development—something that will become increasingly relevant towards the end of the decade, when the IVDR directive will no longer allow the use of home-made kits in the EU if equivalent commercial kits are available.
We plan to hold up to 10 Science Club sessions annually, with at least 3 of them open to external experts. We would welcome active participation from professionals in related fields—especially those based in the Hradec Králové and Pardubice regions.
